Shrink or Expand?

You will notice two competing compulsions that drive your daily life. The first is fear. Fear tells you to self-protect, to hoard, to envy, and to project to others our own significance and dominance. In the moment fear usually brings about feelings of anxiety or anger, but we can distinguish it clearly by the feeling that we are shrinking as a person when we obey its guidance. The second is love. Love wills the good of all and is inherently generous, seeking ways to be creatively generative. In the moment love usually brings about feelings of connection and meaning, leaving us with a sense of expansiveness and abundance. Fear leaves us smaller, love enlarges us. These two forces are operating within you every single day. There is virtually nothing that will change your life more than shifting your daily motivations from the internal voice of fear to the voice of love.

THIS WEEK: Notice when you're acting out of fear, and when you are operating out of love. Try to really pay attention to both of these forces, when they come up, and how you respond. Continue this practice throughout the month and see how your life changes.

All the best,
