Imagine your daily limits as the walls of a garden. Within these walls, you’ve planted all of the things that are familiar and safe. But beyond these boundaries is uncharted land, full of potential and discovery.
For many of us, our greatest opportunities for potential and discovery are found in silence and stillness.
We often boundary ourselves from stillness and quiet, preferring frenetic action and noise instead. We tell ourselves that we avoid things like meditation and silent retreats because we are too busy, but if we are honest with ourselves, we find that we often avoid these practices because we are afraid of what truths might emerge if we were to really quiet down and just listen.
THIS WEEK: Spend 10 minutes in silence every morning this week. Begin the time by asking, out loud, the question “What is it that I need to hear right now?” And then listen.
All the best,
